  • Remember, we are starting in Remote Learning to begin the school year
  • Tuesday 9/1  is a HALF DAY for Remote & Virtual students from  8:30 - 11:30.  Later that day join your Long Meadow School family for a Welcome Wave Drive-By from 2:00-3:00. (SEE DETAILS BELOW)
  • Wednesday 9/2  Wellness Wednesday reserved for optional student meetings and support for students in temporary remote learning.   Teachers will engage in building connections using technology, and help students feel comfortable.  The morning meeting with class will help to build routines.  They will begin making connections with students in their classes via zoom, Google Meet or phone calls. Teachers will continue to add content to their Google Classrooms.
     Stay tuned for information from your child's teacher. ***Students in the RCS Virtual Campus should follow their weekly schedule.
  • Thursday 9/3  is a FULL DAY from 8:30 - 3:00.   More information will come from your child's teacher. 
  • Friday 9/4 & Monday 9/7- NO SCHOOL (Labor Day)
  • Specials Team (Art, Musics, PE, Media) have scheduled times with each grade level to introduce themselves to students. These meetings will held on Wednesday and Thursday during the first week. 
  • ​During the first week of school, students will be learning as they complete tutorials and guided sessions to introduce remote and virtual learning platforms.  They will begin building classroom community and establishing class routines & expectations.​

  • Attendance will be taken and recorded.  If a student attends a live lesson via a zoom, google meet, small group, or one-on-one... that student would be marked "Here or Present"​

Our Long Meadow Staff is super excited to get our year started and can’t wait to see our students! Please consider this opportunity to drive through the parking lot and say “Hello!” to their new teacher. If you are unable make the Welcome Wave, not to worry.  Our staff is prepared and ready to connect with our students remotely through Google Classroom and Zoom.

Please plan to come during your scheduled time. This will help to ensure we can keep the traffic flow moving at a safe and comfortable pace.

With the RCS pivoting to meet the requests for virtual learning and teaching at all levels, there was movement of staff and students.  The requests by students and staff impacted the the number of sections at Long Meadow Elementary.

We know this year is going to require some adaptability and flexibility and the Long Meadow PTA is here for you, so please JOIN US!  Whether you are enrolled in RCS virtual campus or f2f/remote, we are dedicated to supporting EVERYONE.  We have a new virtual tool for sign up this year: https://longmeadowpta.membershiptoolkit.com/ Remember, even if you were a member last year, we need you to resign up again for this school year.  You can even pay your dues right from the website this year!  We look forward to hearing from you and virtually seeing you all at our first meeting on September 16th.

SYNERGY INSTRUCTIONS / HELP
Finishing touches are being made to student course selections across 21 schools, including the new RCS Virtual Campus. Schedules for the 2020-21 school year will be shared on Friday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. Families may access schedules through the ParentVUE portal and students can sign in through StudentVUE.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL
​SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES
​Our RCS social-emotional support teams, which consist of counselors, social workers and psychologists, will be operating in all learning environments, including in-person/temporary remote learning and the RCS Virtual Campus. These highly trained professionals are available for students and families in a variety of settings, and can be contacted through email, in-person or virtual meetings, and phone calls.
 
Families are invited to take advantage of the student wellness resources that have been compiled in a new website, developed specifically for the RCS community by our RCS teams. This valuable collection of tools provides crisis contacts, family activity ideas, parent resources, book recommendations, coping strategies, and contact information for the counselors and professionals in each school.
