October is AAC Awareness Month!
PAC is celebrating by holding an educational event about AAC on October 19, 6:30pm. What is AAC, you ask? AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and it's basically all the ways people can communicate besides talking.
A representative from the group "Communication is Key" will be presenting, as well as knowledgeable speech and language providers. Learn about different communication devices and software, how to encourage communication in your child, and how to model using AAC for others. This event will be useful for parents and educators whether your children are non-verbal or not.
RSVP at www.rcspac.com We hope to see you there!

This year, we are going to focus on media balance and digital well-being. Just like eating too much junk food isn't healthy for our bodies, consuming too much technology can negatively impact our lives. Throughout the week, students will share strategies they use to have a more balanced digital lifestyle. Resources from Common Sense Media will be available on our website for families to reference. Please watch this student-created promo video to learn more about our Media Balance and Well-Being Campaign: https://youtu.be/_Ju0xhZGfWM.
- When: Oct. 29th @9:15a

- Students wear costumes to school
- Standard/Typical costume guidelines are in effect
- Classes will parade around the soccer field
- Parents are welcome to attend the outside parade only (still not having parent volunteers in classrooms with kids)

Next Week's Positivity Character Strength: CREATIVITY
We are so excited to be partnering with the Positivity Project again this year.
Next week, all children (grades K-5) will introduced Positivity characteristic of CREATIVITY.
What is the Positivity Project?
The Positivity Project, also referred to as P2, uses 24 character strengths to help students build positive relationships. Positive relationships are the cornerstone to health, happiness and resilience. Each week all children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade will be introduced and explicitly taught the same character strength. Everyone in our Long Meadow family will be provided with the same definition for each character strength. Children will soon be able to “see what the character trait looks like” through the use of videos, books, and discussions.

2021-2022 Positivity Project Weekly Calendar
This year the Positivity project has developed a family resource connection so that you can be part of Positivity in Action at home. We have provided the one page character card and age appropriate video based on grade. The family link will include the definition of the character trait we are learning, a short video to watch as a family, and sample discussion questions to continue learning about Positivity in Action at home.
