Students, staff, and parents need to wear a mask when on school grounds
Long Meadow Elementary School and Rochester Community Schools recognize the importance of returning students to classrooms for in-person instruction while protecting the health and safety of our students, school staff, and broader community from COVID-19. The Long Meadow Return to Learn Guide further outlines information shared by Rochester Community Schools while providing guidance on processes specific to Long Meadow Elementary. This guide will outline how we will support student learning and safety. There will be some items duplicated on the week's newsletter and the Return to Learn Guide.
LEARNING & GROWING TOGETHERThe creativity by staff is awesome. Check out some of our bulletin boards at Long Meadow.

HALLOWEEN UPDATE AT LONG MEADOW THIS YEAR
As we are headed towards Halloween, we wanted to send an update on the plan for Halloween. With COVID and focusing on safety, with regards to masks and social distancing, we are taking a safer and alternative approach to Halloween this year.
Thank you and looking forward to seeing some great costumes on Wednesday, Oct. 28th via zoom. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to making that day special.
- Wednesday, Oct. 28th – a zoom “party” would be suggested for classrooms or as a grade. The idea would be to have students attend as they normally do on Wednesdays. They would have a typical start to the remote day. Halloween / costumes would fall at the end of the school day and would be optional for kids.
- We are also having two spirit days for cohort A & B. Cohorts would participate during their in-person days. See the attached flyer to get the details on those.
- During spirit days, NO costumes.
- We will NOT have a Halloween parade or in-person parties for Halloween.
- RHS student council scheduled a trunk-or-treat as an option for the feeder elementary schools. This is an optional event and run by RHS.
Thank you and looking forward to seeing some great costumes on Wednesday, Oct. 28th via zoom. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to making that day special.

What is the Positivity Project?
The Positivity Project, also referred to as P2, uses 24 character strengths to help students build positive relationships. Positive relationships are the cornerstone to health, happiness and resilience. Each week all children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade will be introduced and explicitly taught the same character strength. Everyone in our Long Meadow family will be provided with the same definition for each character strength. This common language along with classroom instruction tailored to each grade level, will help to provide students with a deeper understanding of each character trait. Children will soon be able to “see what the character trait looks like” through the use of videos, books, and discussions. Children will be able to identify character traits in themselves and others.
We are looking forward to working with families joining with us putting Positivity in Actions. Please see the schedule below.
